Ignatian Spirituality

An Ignatian Father explained Ignatium spirituality to our class of 30 educators.

Ignatian Education looks at 

  • finding God in all things 
  • care of the person
  • freedom and responsibility
  •  a faith that does justice
  •  Christ as the model for human life
  •  striving for excellence (Ignatius insisted on magis- the more.
  •  working with community.

In the afternoon we had lunch and were driven to the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See. Located at the Vatican, Melissa Hitchman explained,

” My mission to the Holy See is to represent modern Australia – our vibrant democracy, indigenous heritage, multicultural society, activist foreign policy, and committed lay and religious making a difference in Rome and at home.  “

Dinner tonight was at a restaurant at the Compo di Fiore. We met some South Australians and they invited us to see their view of the Compo from their window. It was beautiful. This has been our backyard during our time in Roma. A gelati of fig and biscuit and passionfruit, tonight.

Before the fifteenth century the square didn’t exist and in its place, there was a flower meadow, thus the name. Legend tells that the name of the square comes from Latin Campous Florae, that is the Field of Flora, a woman loved by general Pompey, who had built his theatre close to the market. market is the oldest in Rome. Every night street cleaners spend a few hours cleaning up the rubbish in preparation for the dinner guests/
